Band of Hope and Glory was originally formed in 1983 and performed regularly through the 1980's, appearing at folk clubs and festivals throughout Perth and Western Australia. In conjunction with the WA Folk Federation, the band also ran regular monthly Folk Dances in South Perth.
The band went into recession in the late 1980's and has recently reformed with a reduced line up comprising 4 of the original 7 members occasionally supplemented by other performers.
The MusicBand of Hope and Glory has always had traditional English song and dance as its core material. This is complemented by a wide range of songs and music from other sources including less serious material derived from the Music Hall era. Other items include dance tunes from other countries such as France and contemporary songs written by people such as John Tams. |
